Surplus military tents repurposed as coronavirus testing sites

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — New Jersey’s Union County is among DLA’s many excess-property recipients reusing former mobile shelters in their local fight against COVID-19.

Some of the 55 hospital exam tables acquired Sept. 23, 2020, by the U.S. Agency for International Development from Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, await shipment to join the fight against COVID-19.

Excess property continues to aid fight against pandemic

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Forces battling the pandemic have much to be thankful for this year as Defense Logistics Agency employees at DLA Disposition Services locations across the country have transferred almost $36.8 million worth of excess military items to service members and first responders working to stop the coronavirus spread and help those already afflicted.

Partner agencies receive $18 million in supplies during pandemic response

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — As autumn approaches, DLA Disposition Services continues its support of pandemic response by supplying the armed forces and first responders with a variety of materials. “We’ve recently exceeded a total of $18 million in excess and surplus supplies and equipment provided to customers for COVID-19 relief efforts,” said DLA Disposition Services Director Mike Cannon.

DLA transfers excess Army property to support Honduran COVID-19 response

SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras — Defense Logistics Agency employees teamed with members of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, U.S. Southern Command and Soto Cano Air Base mid-July to equip COVID-19 response centers and quarantine camps in Honduras with $2.2 million in donated property.
