DLA Aviation commander welcomes Navy Supply Corps Admiral for executive engagement

Navy RDML Kenneth Epps, Deputy Chief of Staff for Fleet Ordnance and Supply/Fleet Supply Officer, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Virginia, traveled to Defense Logistics Agency Aviation on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, Sept. 25, to meet with DLA Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. David Sanford, as well as other senior leaders.

Active shooter awareness training held at DSCR

Note: This training was held a few days before active shooter situations in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, left 31 people dead and more than 50 injured in less than 24 hours. Nine people killed when a gunman opened fire inside a church in Charleston, South Carolina. Twenty students and six staff members killed after a 20-year old man shot them inside Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. A night of partying at Pulse Night Club in Orlando, Florida, turned tragic on June 12, 2016 when a man walked in and opened fire, killing 49 and injuring close to 60 more.

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Office, in conjunction with the American Federation of Government Employees Local 1992 hosted a lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Pride Month celebration in the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, June 25.

Annual event celebrating the end of slavery held on DCSR

Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19 every year and is the oldest known celebration honoring the end of slavery in the United States. It commemorates the freeing of black slaves two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on Jan. 1, 1863.

According to the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians website, in 1974 President Gerald Ford authorized Emergency Medical Services Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation's communities. Back then, EMS was a new profession and practitioners had only just started to be recognized as a critical component of emergency medicine and the public health safety net. EMS is now firmly established as an essential public function and a vital component of the medical care continuum.
