Veterans serving veterans, giving thanks across military generations

Many Americans gathered with family and friends to give thanks last week; however, members of the DLA Land and Maritime family met with another family to give thanks this season – veterans. The 13-member group of active duty and retired service members led by the Joint Reserve Force supported the Columbus VA annual Thanksgiving feast for area veterans. The event was held at the American Legion Post 144 on South High Street Nov. 16.

Family service, loss themes of 2018 Marine Corps birthday celebration at DSCC

The Marine Corps celebrated 243 years of service to the nation during a birthday celebration at the Defense Supply Center Columbus Nov. 7. “The U.S. Marine Corps has a long, proud history of service defending America’s liberties and ideals dating back to the foundation of our country,” said Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Deputy Commander Steve Alsup opening the program. “Through multiple conflicts, the valor and courage of the Corps has been battle-tested and proven.”

Associates attended a Veterans Information Fair and special program to celebrate and honor those who have served in the US military throughout the day Nov. 7 at the Defense Supply Center Columbus.

October new employees

DLA Land and Maritime hosted a diverse class of 13 new employees on Oct. 24 and 25 in the Building 20 Buckeye Room. The class included police officers, purchasing agents and engineers.

DLA Land and Maritime’s Level III Mentoring Program introduced its class of 2020 in January 2018. The protégés have been busy since then; working with their mentors, facilitating local events, attending leadership development activities, shadowing and mentoring others.

Central State University’s 2018 Fall Career and Internship Fair

Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime recruiters attended the Central State University’s 2018 Fall Career and Internship fair located in Wilberforce, Ohio, Oct. 17. Central State University is Ohio’s only publicly funded historically black university, named in honor of the great abolitionist William Wilberforce.
