Fort Campbell privatizes electrical distribution system

Army’s Fort Campbell in Kentucky got a new owner for its electrical distribution system thanks to a Defense Logistics Agency Energy utilities privatization contract award. Beginning Nov. 10, City Light & Power, Inc. owns, operates and maintains the installation’s system with plans to improve infrastructure, modernize equipment and develop standardized electrical distribution practices.

Oklahoma City DLA Strategic Material pilot program partnership proves successful

Approximately two years ago, DLA Distribution Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, located at Tinker Air Force Base, joined forces with DLA Disposition Services to take on a new mission. The mission assisting DLA Strategic Materials in sorting, recovering and reclaiming rare materials critical to national defense and national security for reuse in military applications, and enables the United States to not rely on other countries to replace the materials that have been identified as a shortfall’s within the National Defense Stock Piling Act.

DLA Troop Support provides a taste of home for service members away for the holiday

Service members deployed overseas, as well as those serving at the United States’ southern border, get to experience a taste of home on Thanksgiving Day due to the efforts of Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support employees. “America’s military men and women continually make sacrifices to secure our freedom,” said Army Brig. Gen. Mark Simerly, DLA Troop Support commander. “It is our duty to show our gratitude by providing them the very best Thanksgiving meal our country has to offer.”

Historic uniform change for female Marines; ‘there will be no doubts that they are U.S. Marines in the dress blue uniform’

Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Marine Corps Systems Command website — A white belt, form-fitted coat and a standing collar are a few features female Marines can expect to see on the new dress blue uniform. Based on a 2014 Marine Corps initiative, Marine Corps Systems Command was tasked to develop a dress blue coat for women that was similar to the male uniform.

Geiger, Ph.D, CMA, CGFM, chairman of the Government Management Institute visited the DLA Distribution headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on Nov. 14, for an overview of DLA Distribution, a roundtable discussion with DLA Financial Operations staff and a tour of DLA Distribution Susquehanna’s Eastern Distribution Center, the largest storage facility in the Department of Defense.
