PUGET SOUND, Washington –
Navy Supply Corps Cmdr. Mark Peace has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for his achievements while serving as commander, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Puget Sound, Washington.
Peace has served as the distribution center’s commander since October 2014, during which time he managed nearly 37,000 items with a value of over $467 million.
Successfully leading the transition of Storage and Distribution functions from Disposition Services to Distribution as part of the D2 initiative, Peace seamlessly introduced 154 employees and $335 million in new inventory to DLA Distribution Puget Sound operations.
At the same time, he built a “One Team, One Fight” culture to build a relationship with new employees, ultimately increasing the cultural satisfaction rating by 44 percent.
Peace was instrumental in achieving DLA’s audit readiness assertion, and his effort resulted in DLA Distribution Puget Sound being named the first distribution center in the network to achieve zero negative findings during the DLA headquarters audit readiness inspection.
He also initiated multiple facilities changes and upgrades increasing much needed warehouse square footage and aligning administrative space to the mission area while creating a streamlined workflow leading to process improvements and elevating morale.
For its exceptional performance and outstanding contributions to the customer during Peace’s tenure, DLA Distribution Puget Sound was the recipient of the 2015 Maj. Gen. Kenneth Privratsky award for distribution excellence- the first Navy-commanded distribution center to ever be selected.
Peace will retire from the United States Navy following an Aug. 11 ceremony.
