DLA director recognizes DLA Energy Korea team

By DLA Energy Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams visited DLA Energy Korea at Daegu, South Korea, Aug. 15.

Since taking command in June, Williams has visited various DLA primary field level activities as part of his plan to learn more about the organization and its employees.

During the director’s visit, he recognized employees with awards and visited the future site of Defense Fuel Support Point Camp Humphreys. Camp Humphreys is the largest U.S. Army garrison in Asia.

Williams presented what he has branded the “DLA Director’s ‘Ya Done Good’ certificate of achievement to Army Sgt. First Class Nicholas Braddock in recognition of being named non-commissioned officer of the third quarter for fiscal year 2017. Braddock was nominated for developing the operation-impact logistics supportability assessment for the complex and evolving Korea Family of Plans. He worked hand-in-hand with the lead Army planner to design and develop the time-critical concept of support for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense emplacement and developed a comprehensive bulk fuel fill plan for Korean infrastructure.

DLA Energy Korea’s Logistics and Operations divisions received ‘Ya Done Good’ certificates for providing customer support to Pacific Command fuel requests, the THAAD mission, Operation Pacific Reach and the July 1 West Pyongtaek DFSP activation. The team developed a multi-receipt mode plan to maximize inventory across the Korean Theater of Operations, delivered mission critical support to the THAAD system and provided emergency warfighter support during Operation Pacific Reach 2017.

DLA Energy at Korea Commander Army Lt. Col. Faith Chamberlain explained how her team’s efforts support the warfighter.

“The West Pyongtaek DFSP activation process was perfectly timed to inaugurate DLA’s Jet A1 conversion in Korea and to support US Forces Korea’s request to create a fuel distribution hub at Camp Humphreys,” Chamberlain said. “West Pyeongtaek DFSP is located west of Camp Humphreys and is strategically positioned to support the warfighters’ long-term plans.”

Rodrigo Gonzalez was also presented with a ‘Ya Done Good’ certificate for serving as acting quality assurance division chief and customer account specialist. He assumed the CAS duties, filling an urgent direct delivery functional gap while meticulously providing customer orders and emergent aviation gas requirements. He also performed hands-on quality assurance missions in both the Korean and PACOM theaters of operations.

In an Aug. 19 email to DLA Energy Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Martin Chapin, Williams wrote, “I saw many of your Energy teammates in the Pacific this past week, they are doing truly great work. Please give my personal thanks to your Pacific team!”
