DLA Troop Support continues hurricane relief support

By DLA Troop Support Public Affairs

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support continues to manage the delivery of more than 30 million meals and 82 generators to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s hurricane relief efforts.

That’s in addition to materials provided to U.S. Northern Command in support of state and local disaster response efforts in Texas, and U.S. Southern Command relief efforts in the Caribbean.

Hurricane Irma support

DLA Troop Support’s Subsistence supply chain managed a rush delivery of fresh fruit and vegetables to the dock loading ship USS Oak Hill before it departed for the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Subsistence also delivered 298,500 MREs to military units supporting SOUTHCOM relief efforts, including Joint Forces Headquarters Virgin Islands, the Florida Army National Guard and two military installations: Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.

Subsistence is also delivering 13.7 million meals to FEMA, and has delivered 600 meals and 900 liters of bottled water to the Transportation Security Administration on the island of St. Thomas.

The Construction and Equipment supply chain is managing the delivery of 40 generators to northern Florida. Another 31 generators will be delivered to Puerto Rico.

Hurricane Harvey support

Subsistence managed the delivery of 4.8 million meals and 1.5 million bottles of water to FEMA.

Subsistence also managed the delivery of 298,752 MREs to the Texas Army National Guard, Marines Corps Reserves and Coast Guard, all in support of NORTHCOM.

C&E managed the delivery of 14,500 sandbags to three Texas military installations: Lackland Air Force Base, Fort Sam Houston and Randolph Air Force Base. C&E also provided 8,573 cots to the Texas Army National Guard.

C&E also provided 11 generators and 575 flotation devices to FEMA.
