NORFOLK, Va. –
Adding to DLA Distribution’s ongoing support to Hurricane Irma recovery efforts, last week its Norfolk, Virginia, distribution center shipped various food items to warfighters at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
The DLA Distribution Norfolk East Coast Export Mission Team loaded and shipped over 95,000 lbs. of fresh fruit and vegetables; more than 5,000 dozen eggs; nearly 17,000 lbs. of dairy products; 13,000 lbs. of dry food items; and nearly 2,000 lbs. of frozen foods. The items were shipped on 463L air pallets and flown on September 15.
According Tim Bailey, DLA Distribution Norfolk, Virginia, regional contracting officer's representative, the team’s mission was assisted by DLA Troop Support field representative Lorenzo Munoz with Army Materiel Command headquarters representative Randy Finney as well as Myron Moore and Jerry Easter of DLA Distribution Norfolk.
