Lockett assumes command of DLA Energy Hawaii

By Connie Braesch DLA Energy Public Affairs

Navy Cmdr. Eric Lockett assumed command for Defense Logistics Agency Energy Hawaii, March 21.

During the ceremony, which took place onboard the historic USS Missouri on Ford Island in the center of Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Lockett acknowledged the important contributions of the men and women assigned to DLA Energy Hawaii.

“Over the past year you resolved multiple fuel system deficiencies, synchronized infrastructure capabilities in support of operation plan requirements, facilitated engagements for multi-million-dollar military construction projects, led the charge to fuel emergency management planning efforts, and commissioned a capitalized refueling point, just to name a few,” he said. “All while sustaining meticulous oversight of 10 Defense Fuel Supply Points, totaling over 336 million gallons across all services, and being audit ready for more than $240 million in sales transactions.”

Lockett said he and his wife, Tanya, are excited about the opportunity and are honored to serve with the phenomenal team of professionals. He told the audience that his career led him to this point.

“Several years ago, when I was a junior lieutenant in the Petroleum Management Intern Program, I visited the Navy fuel facilities here,” he said. “A representative from DLA Energy Operations explained the ways DLA Energy provides support across the area. I must admit, that planted a seed within me.”

From that point, Lockett’s assignments charted a course that led him back to Hawaii. He served as the chief of Current Operations and Plans and the director of Supplier Operations at DLA Energy Europe and Africa in Germany from 2011-2014 and, most recently, as the executive officer/operations officer of the Navy Customer Facing Division at DLA Aviation in Richmond, Virginia. He is Level II Acquisition Certified for Life Cycle Logistics, a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps, and a qualified Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer and Naval Aviation Supply Officer.

“I look forward working with each of you in support of our warfighters and allies throughout the region,” he said. “Let’s keep the fuel flowing!”
