Defense Logistics Agency Installation Operations Richmond’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation Office hosted a soft opening of the new Center Restaurant July 23.
Employees turned out in droves to see the new Center Restaurant in the DLA Aviation Operations Center and to taste free small bite samplings.
“Food vendors from U.S. Foods were available with samples,” said Nelson Mayes, food and beverage business manager, MWR office, DLA Installation Operations Richmond. “MWR provided a free potato and nacho bar, full salad bar, grilled hamburgers, cake and refreshments.”
The restaurant opened full time July 24. Its operating hours will be from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. The Tickets and More Office has also relocated inside the new restaurant and is open from 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Opening shortly will be the new Centre Perk, coffee shop.
Ursula Hickox, MWR chief, said there are a few more equipment issues to work out and inspections to complete before the coffee shop opens, but hopefully it will be by the end of the week.
“It’s great to see the new cafeteria space become operational,” said David Gibson, site director, DLA Installation Operations Richmond. “Everyone worked hard on the transition. The new space enables us to provide more options and improved service.”
