Aviation reservists share success of initiatives with Joint Reserve Force director

By Natalie Skelton DLA Aviation Public Affairs Office

Navy Rear Adm. Deborah Haven, director, Defense Logistics Agency Joint Reserve Force, visited Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, Aug. 11 to recognize outstanding joint reserve personnel and learn about the reserve team’s current initiatives and projects.

The projects include participation in two exercises, Rim of the Pacific 2018 and Saber Strike 18. Personnel supported DLA Distribution Pearl Harbor for RIMPAC, preparing and packaging nearly 1,500 special-use maps designed for various ships and stations during the exercise. The team also inventoried nearly 4,000 maps to support continuing operations beyond the reach of RIMPAC 2018.

In support of Saber Strike 18, DLA Aviation Joint Reserve Force personnel provided universal customer account specialists and liaison officer support in Poznan, Poland, providing consultation and engaging with the warfighter by troubleshooting problem areas in requisitioning and procuring DLA-source material. The projects marked DLA Aviation’s first-time participating in exercise support.

DLA Aviation Joint Reserve Force officials also shared with Haven the activity’s work on the Aviation Project Support Initiative, the CH 53 Reset Initiative and efforts to improve service-specific culture among DLA Aviation personnel. Navy Cmdr. Catherine Krakuszeski, commanding officer, Joint Reserve Team/Logistics Assistance Team, DLA Aviation, shared with Haven the positive results of DLA Aviation Joint Reserve Force personnel’s ongoing effort to recruit more personnel.

During her visit, Haven received a brief tour of the center from DLA Aviation Public Affairs Specialist, Leon Moore and DLA Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Linda Hurry presented the Defense Meritorious Service Medal to Krakuszeski for her achievements while assigned to DLA Aviation.
