COLUMBUS, Ohio –
During the summer, finding a way to beat the heat can be a challenge but the Defense Supply Center Columbus’ Morale, Welfare and Recreation division found a solution.
Associates and their family members joined
MWR for the Wet and Wild 5K to celebrate the end of summer in a cool, wet run. The free 5K event featured an inflatable slip and slide, super soakers, water balloons, a hydration station and an assortment of other water fun.
The Wet and Wild 5K marked the half way point for the MWR Fitness Center’s 2018 5K program.
“We created the 5K series to give associates an opportunity to improve their fitness levels, encourage exercise and assist them in living a healthier life,” Sports, Fitness and Aquatics Manager Tiara Crowder said. “For those already fitness minded, the series enables them to get out and compete in a fun environment.”
The MWR 5K series has four remaining events.
- Oct. 1: Purple Powder Blast: Help end domestic violence
- Oct. 25: Trek or Trot: Dare to run scared
- Nov. 20: OSU vs. Michigan Rivalry Run: Celebrate the historic rivalry
-
Dec. 6: Ugly Sweater: May your sweaters be ugly and bright
All races are held at 4:30 p.m. and open to associates and their families. Participants may choose to run or walk the course and are encouraged to dress for the theme.
