DLA Aviation kicks off 2018 CFC season

By Dominique J. Shelton DLA Aviation Public Affairs Office

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation employees gathered together to kick off the 2018 Combined Federal Campaign Oct. 30, held in the old Center Restaurant on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia.

DLA Deputy Commander, Charlie Lilli, encouraged attendees to do their part by donating in support of this year’s campaign and help the agency meet or exceed its goal of $100,000.

“I’ve been in the government since 1981 when I first joined as a young naval officer and I have seen the Combined Federal Campaign come and go, year after year, raising millions of dollars for great charities,” said Lilli. “I know that it’s tough times. Everybody is under pressure with money, finances and just general tension, but, if you can I would highly encourage you to participate.”

According to the United States Office of Personnel Management, the mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.

“The great thing about the Combined Federal Campaign is that you can donate to just about any cause imaginable,” said Lilli. “While you may never know who exactly you are helping, know that there are millions and millions of people who have and will benefit from your contributions.”

OPM also states that the CFC is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with almost 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas raising millions of dollars each year. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.

This year’s CFC campaign manager for DLA organization’s on DSCR is Christie Duke, program analyst from the DLA Aviation command support directorate.
