Adopt-a-Family Program lets employees spread goodwill, Christmas cheer to HQC families

By DLA Public Affairs

McNamara Headquarters Complex employees can spread their Christmas cheer and goodwill with fellow employees through the Annual Adopt-a-Family Program.

Sponsored by the DLA Chaplain’s Office, the program provides presents for children of current employees, including those from the Defense Logistics Agency, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Defense Technical Information Center and Defense Contract Audit Agency.

Adoptions can be done by offices or individuals and are made on a first-come, first-served basis until all families are adopted. The chaplain’s office manages families’ wish lists and coordinates deliveries and asks that gifts be addressed to specific children, wrapped and provided to the chaplain’s office by Dec. 14.

Last year, 113 children from 37 families received gifts through the program. Parents of children who received gifts expressed profound gratitude in letters to the chaplain’s office.

“I was hesitant to submit my family because we have so many children but am glad I did,” wrote one parent. “We are extremely grateful for all that was purchased and enjoyed Christmas that much more because of the spirit and goodwill from all of those involved. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
