Yokosuka’s Cline named DLA Junior Enlisted NCO of the Quarter

DLA Distribution Public Affairs

DLA Distribution Yokosuka, Japan’s Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Carolina Cline has been selected as DLA Junior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter for third quarter, fiscal year 2018.

As Leading Petty Officer for DLA Distribution Yokosuka, Japan’s Emergency Supply Operations Center and Material Processing Center, Cline facilitated the flow of over 5,000 pallets of cargo, resulting in the delivery of more than 90,000 parts to 12 homeported Forward Deployed Naval Forces and 50 shore activities.

In this position, she also led a team of 16 Sailors in the execution of over 100 real inventory requests, 500 general and critical material requests, 18 counter-to-counter requests, 128 Casualty Report (CASREP) requirements, 46 counter-to-counter shipments, and over 160 bearer walk-throughs and coordinated the local delivery of more than 1,000 pallets of material to the waterfront.

According to DLA Distribution Yokosuka, Japan, deputy commander Roy Jewell, Cline is forward-leaning and always focused on customer service.  “PO1 Cline maintained excellent liaisons with her counterparts at Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center to ensure timely, responsive, and resourceful distribution services in support of forward Deployed Naval Forces in Japan.”

For example, she coordinated a last-minute change request for the USS Ronald Reagan's carrier air wing deployment on-load.  Her proactive efforts led to the successful, on-time completion of the on-load operation. Additionally, she coordinated the expeditious delivery of a CASREP asset for USS Green Bay (LPD-20), ensuring the USS Green Bay executed its mission on time and without any mishaps.

In her personal time, Cline volunteered to be the Parent Teacher Organization Treasurer for Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka Sullivan Elementary School after unforeseen circumstances left the organization without a treasurer.

With a $20,000 deficit, she managed to still keep various functions running and maintained scholastics subscriptions for more than 1,300 students, boosting morale. Cline was able to incorporate her military training into the organization’s log keeping and get the records back on track.

“A versatile Sailor, PO1 Cline is a command leader and motivator as well as an outstanding social service provider and most deserving of this recognition,” said Jewell.
