How long have you worked for the federal government including military service? 17 years

How long have you worked for DLA Logistics Information Services? 4 years

What is your favorite thing about your line of work? The “thank you” I receive after speaking with customers and walking them through our process and how they are active participants in “keeping our Warfighter safe.”

What is the best piece of advice someone has given you? Sandy, you put the “human” back in “human resources.”

What do you think about when you hear “Women’s History Month? I think of the women who have proceeded me and are the “grey eminences” of the community they influenced. Women who break barriers every day.

Who are some women you admire? Ruth Bader-Ginsburg, Sandra Day O’Connor

What challenge remain for women today? The role a single mother plays in the workforce, as the facilities manager of the household and at any given moment transition back to the most important role, being a mom.

How can understanding history help us to overcome them? Don’t be afraid to speak up during meetings, provide new ideas and ask the questions others are thinking.

What is your best memory of working here? 

  • Received a Coin Award from our Director for DLA resourcefulness.
  • Assisted multiple DLA employees with various cataloging system accesses, conducted follow up visits and investigated any issues to ensure everything was working properly. Received “thank you” from numerous people for my customer service skills during this period.

What did you want to be when you grew up? A female news broadcaster

Who is your hero? My hero is my Aunt Barb Schweitzer who was an elementary school teacher.

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be? I would travel and teach.

What is your favorite quote? “It Takes a Village to Raise a Child.” What are your hobbies? I enjoy gardening, home improvement projects, community involvement, public speaking and singing in the church choir.
