DLA Distribution Donald P. Brown award for operational cost effectiveness is awarded to Steven Pawlicki

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

Steven Pawlicki, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Anniston, Alabama, equipment specialist, received the DLA Distribution Donald P. Brown award for operational cost effectiveness. Pawlicki’s straightforward thinking and aggressiveness led him to develop a program to monitor daily balances of millions of dollars’ worth of packing supplies and material stored in the organization’s consolidated supply room. These essential stored supplies are always crucial to have readily available to correctly ship critical replacement parts and weapons globally to support the warfighter mission.

The self-developed program by Pawlicki is utilized as a comparative tool of supplies on-hand with the actual balances reflected in the Distribution Standard System. The program also provides the means to track maximum quantities that can be stored for assigned stock numbers in each allocated designated location. This readily available information provides guidance with reordering and maintaining reorder points for over 200 individual stocked items. The ability to correctly monitor reorder points saves the organizations millions of dollars annually by reducing the costs associated with last minute supply requests and increases the speed by which material can reach the warfighter in the field.

Pawlicki established a local historical program that tracks both material release orders along with dates associated with packaging supply requests to the item managers and the date of actual arrival. This historical database provides an average procurement time as to when DDAA can expect delivery of requested critical material.

Both databases provide imperative statistics to make critical decisions that have a long-term effect on the support that is provided to the warfighter by DDAA.
