Establishing a legacy of success; Army Col. Frederic Maddox is awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal

For exemplary actions in driving the warfighter first principle of the Defense Logistics Agency, Army Col. Frederic Maddox was awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal June 25, by Navy Rear Adm. Kevin M. Jones, former commander, DLA Distribution.

“His visionary and inspired leadership through a time of budgetary turbulence and critical service requirements clearly sets him apart from his peers,” said Jones.
One of Maddox’s key implementations was the development of a data driven system that incorporates over 80 diverse key points of interest weighted against DLA priorities to streamline services to customers and maintain a warfighter first operation.

During his tenure at DLA, Distribution, Maddox not only implemented a variety of process changes, but established a well-trained management force to carry that success forward.

“Col. Maddox has postured DLA Distribution to kick off fiscal year 2020 well above a 90% accuracy rate,” said Jones.

Maddox oversaw multiple missions under the Whole of Government partnership to assist the Federal Emergency Management Agency with hurricane disaster relief. Utilizing the capabilities of DLA Distribution, Expeditionary, these deployable units, comprised of a blend of military and civil service employees, delivered over 2 thousand truck loads of life sustaining supplies during the 2018 and 2019 hurricane season.

Throughout global military exercises such as Talisman Saber 2019 and Defender 2020, Maddox oversaw operations by DDXX that acted in support of forward combatant commands including the Indo-Pacific Command and European Command. Maddox’s ability to lead and direct materials and personnel through these deployments while simultaneously seeing to the regular operational capabilities of DLA Distribution demonstrate a clear dedication to duty and reflect greatly upon his leadership capabilities on a global level.
