PHILADELPHIA –
The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support celebrated the retirement of a civilian employee during a virtual ceremony May 27 in Philadelphia.
William McGuire, a contracting officer with the Construction and Equipment supply chain, retired after 13 years of federal service. He was joined by his wife, Linda, family, friends and coworkers during the ceremony.
DLA Troop Support Acting Commander Richard Ellis presided over the ceremony and welcomed the attendees.
“Please accept my gratitude for all that you have done in service to our nation, the Defense Logistics Agency, and most importantly, the men and women of our military,” Ellis said.
McGuire will receive a certificate of retirement, DLA Troop Support mementos and a commander’s coin, all of which will be mailed to him. In addition, his wife will receive a spouse’s certificate of appreciation.
McGuire’s career at DLA Troop Support started in 2010 as a member of the Procurement Support Branch 1 in the Construction and Equipment Supplier Division. He held several other roles within the supply chain, including serving as a member of the metals integrated supply team within the Maintenance and Repair Operations and Metal Division.
He received several awards and recognitions during his career, including an award for his work in resolving thousands of issues associated with the transfer of numerous items from the Government Services Administration, and for training sessions he conducted for the supply chain in 2016 and 2018.
“Thank you for the opportunity to be at DLA. It was a pleasure,” McGuire said. “I tried to work hard and help people.”
