Celebrating DLA's 60th Anniversary: DLA Land and Maritime over the years

For 60 years, the Defense Logistics Agency has been a leader in defense logistics, dedicated to advancing the art and science of end-to-end supply chain management and streamlined acquisition. In celebration of the DLA’s upcoming 60th Anniversary celebration in October, DLA Land and Maritime looks back at the early days of our historic support to what is known today as DLA.

SLIDESHOW | 13 images | DLA Land and Maritime Historical Photos In 1918, the U.S. Army established the installation known today as the Defense Supply Center Columbus to support the heavy demands of World War I. Originally opened as the Columbus Quartermaster Reserve Depot, the center underwent many name changes as its mission and scope fluctuated with the nation’s needs. Today, many longtime employees still refer to the installation as “the depot.”
