DLA Aviation employees come through in a big way for annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots drive

By Leon Moore DLA Aviation Public Affairs Office

Remember how happy we were as kids, waking up on Christmas day and seeing bicycles, skateboards, doll babies, train sets and other toys underneath our Christmas trees?

Thanks to the huge hearts of Defense Logistics Agency Aviation employees, hundreds, if not thousands of bright-eyed children, will experience the same elation this upcoming Christmas day, thanks to the annual Marine Toys for Tots campaign.

Toys for Tots began in 1947 with the primary goal through the gift of a new toy to help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America's less fortunate children. To date, the program has collected and distributed more than 600 million toys.

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation at Jacksonville Commander Navy Commander Curtis Ceaser said, employees there outdid themselves this year, donating more than 1,000 toys and contributing another $250 in cash. Last year, those numbers were 290 toys and $217.

“I can’t begin to explain how proud I am leading such an engaged and high performing team. We challenge each other to do and be better every day, to beat yesterday!” Ceaser said. “For us, supporting Toys for Tots has the added benefit of putting a few extra smiles on the faces of children in the greater Jacksonville, [Florida], area.”

Roughly 600 miles north up Interstate 95, employees at DLA Aviation in Richmond, Virginia, also did their part, filling up white and red Toys for Tots donation containers located in the front lobby of the DLA Aviation Operations Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond.
