Supply Technician / Property Disposal Specialist
Can you tell us about yourself?
I’m Puerto Rican, Spaniard & Italian and was born and raised in The Bronx, New York. On April 9, 2022, I have been married 15 years to my beautiful wife. I have 2 wild and crazy kids that help keep me on my toes. My oldest is 11 and youngest is 3. I have found in the past few years that I have a love for theater. I volunteer my time at my local arts center where you can find me bartending, house managing, ushering for plays for any musicals that I’m not in. If I’m in the play or musical, I’m usually in the tech booth either as a Sound Operator or Stage Manager. I’ve been in some musicals like, "Damn Yankees" and "West Side Story". My first lead role was also my favorite role. It was called "Princess is Stuck in a Castle", where I played Super Mario searching for his one true love at a Comic-Con event. Doing things like this get me out of my comfort zone.
Describe your job in a sentence or two.
My job is to verify that the items that get turned in at our site have been properly accounted for and checked for different type of errors before they are requisitioned and get picked up or shipped to our customer. On the daily, I’ll create Detail the Sales Order-Purchase Order report where I use a formula I created in the SO-PO that allows me to walk the warehouse or yard and give accurate information on why items are still here or if anything at our site seems out of place.
How long have you worked for the federal government including military service?
I have will have15 years of service in September. I was in the U.S. Army for 11 years and 8 months. As of May 12, 2022 I have been with DLA Riley for 3 years.
What aspect(s) of your current job gives you the most personal satisfaction and why?
This may sound corny for some people but the most personal satisfaction I get from my job is learning something new each day. As a Supply Technician, I learned my craft inside and out. I made tremendous changes that I feel helped our site grow and learn new ways of looking at the everyday reports we receive. By the time this spotlight comes out I will have transitioned myself over to Property Disposal Specialist. There are so many things to learn and I’m excited to be that sponge and absorb all that knowledge that will be coming my way.
What is your favorite memory with DLA Disposition Services?
My favorite memory with DLA Disposition Services is from before COVID when we would have those random monthly potlucks or on Friday’s when our culture rep would have fun games to play during our morning meeting to help with building morale, rapport and communication with everyone.
What is the best piece of advice someone has given you?
Good communication is the key to success in all aspects of life. Do not hoard information, share it with everyone. When I am the stage managing for a play or musical, it truly takes a village. Without communication with all the different sections… sound, lights, musicians, actors, and director, you can’t fully have a perfect show. Same thing goes for working with DLA. There is so many different sections and teamwork is needed so that we all can get the job done safely and correct.
What would you say has been your major contributions to your organization this year in your job?
One of my major contributions to my organization this year would be helping my site with the RTD Web. Within the last year I’ve come up with what I call Plan B – RTD OneDrive. I’ve organized a back up system so that if the RTD Web app goes down, our site is still be able to take pictures during the KCC process and get them uploaded in a timely manner. Since creating the backup, it’s only had to be used once in February when the app was down for 2 weeks, and it worked with no errors.
If you could speak directly to the warfighters you support, what would you tell them?
If I could speak directly to the warfighters, I would tell them how I can’t wait till we do a change over from DSS to SAP. As someone who uses the SO-PO on a regular basis to find out accurate status of our DTIDS. It would be great to work with a system that will communicate smoothly with one another. As the Go-To IT Guru learning a new system would help in our everyday mission and helping us grow.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
My 5-year goal right now is continuing my education and have received my BA in Supply Management. I see myself also learning and growing through DLA and being a GS-11 Property Disposal Specialist.
Tell us something that most people might not know about you or your directorate?
For the last 2 years I have been a Wedding DJ. I was recognized as DJ of the Year for 2021 in Kansas.
What was your first job?
I worked at the Bronx Zoo in New York City! I was a ticket taker.
Who’s your biggest influence?
Again, not to sound corny but my biggest influencers is my wife. She has been with me since the beginning, before I even joined the military. She has been my rock through all the tough times. If not for her, I would have never known my love of the arts and what true happiness is.
What are some of your passions outside of work?
Volunteering at my local arts center. Being able to spend time with my wife and kids. Another passion I have outside of work is collecting trading cards. I am a huge collector of My Hero Academia Cards and playing the card game with players all over the world.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a High School, Math Teacher
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
Teleport to France with my wife and explore the entire country.
What’s the most thrilling/adventurous thing you have ever done?
When I stationed in South Korea, my unit went bungee jumping. When it was my time to go up, I got so scared that I had the guy kick me off the bridge. I had the whole thing recorded and uploaded on YouTube . The longest minute of my life.
