By Julian Temblador, DLA Distribution San Joaquin Public Affairs

The Defense Logistics Agency Distribution San Joaquin, California, deployed its expeditionary team to Battle Creek, Michigan, July 18, to participate in COREX22. COREX22, led by DLA Disposition Services, is engineered to offer DLA with an opportunity to perform expeditionary disposition services.

During the exercise, DLA Distribution Expeditionary Susquehanna, DDXX San Joaquin and Disposition Services worked together to complete the exercise and train respective core competencies.

DDXX San Joaquin’s primary expeditionary functions include operating theater consolidation shipping points and military processing centers in response to crisis or humanitarian situations.

During the two-week exercise, DDXX San Joaquin underwent a series of trials designed to practice its expeditious capabilities.

As a part of COREX22, the DDXX San Joaquin team, comprised of 17 individuals, utilized its Theater Consolidation and Shipping Point capabilities to assist and process disposition request orders. Benjamin Boone, the DDXX San Joaquin supervisor, deployed with the team.

“We have a few new folks that joined our team this year,” Boone said. “We were able to take them through setting up the site and getting everything functional in a timely manner so that we can support the mission. Having the team go through the entire process in an operational environment has been an invaluable opportunity. Our team did an exceptional job.”

“In addition to processing disposition work orders through our TCSP air beam and moving them forward to Disposition Services, we also conducted material processing training where we create scenarios that take us through processes that we would face as if it were a real operation,” Boone said. “It’s a great opportunity for Disposition Services and Distribution to collaborate.”

In addition to collaborating with Disposition Services, DDXX San Joaquin also partnered with DDXX Susquehanna to receive training and share best practices during the exercise.

“We operated under the same tent for a portion of the exercise,” Boone said. “Both teams were able to take away knowledge and best practices during the exercise.”
DLA Distribution Expeditionary teams provide rapid logistical support to increase readiness for warfighters on the ground and decrease customer wait times. DDXX San Joaquin provides warehouse and distribution facility capabilities closer to the warfighter, primarily in the INDO-PACIFIC region.
