Website lets DLA employees schedule Common Access Card, ID appointments online

By Nancy Benecki DLA Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency employees, retirees and family members with a Common Access Card or ID card can schedule appointments and update information online.

The Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification Systems ID Card Office Online lets users perform a variety of tasks for their cards.

“Think of it like the Department of Motor Vehicles when you need to get your driver’s license renewed,” said David Ramos, a physical security specialist with DLA Installation Management’s Security and Emergency Services. “You go online, find an appointment at a location and take care of business. The IDCO website works in the same way.”

The website, managed by the Defense Manpower Data Center, has four sections with buttons to continue for more actions.

The “ID Card Office Locator and Appointments” section allows users to find an ID card office by location, name or site ID. After selecting an office, users can view the address, phone number, services provided, appointment availability and walk-in hours. There’s also a text box at the bottom of the page where the user can provide details about what needs to be done during the appointment.

Card holders can update a work email address on the card, which will also be published in the global access list, in the “Common Access Card” section.

The “Family ID Cards” section allows users to see a list of all ID cards issued to a sponsor, request a renewal of a family ID card and print a list of family members.

The “My Profile” section lets users view a list of ID cards issued to a sponsor. Personal and other work contact information can be updated here as well, but work email addresses must be updated under the Common Access Card section. Other GAL information such as organization and display name can be updated here, and DOD civilians can opt in to the TSA Pre-check program.

“It’s very simple to use,” Ramos said. “It cuts down the time drastically. It’s also a good system because it puts everything under one umbrella.”

A detailed users guide can be found by clicking the help option at the top right-hand side of the page.

Card holders with certificates set to expire are encouraged to make an appointment at least 30 days before the expiration date, Ramos added.

DLA-operated CAC and ID offices are located at Battle Creek, Michigan; Columbus, Ohio; New Cumberland, Pennsylvania; Richmond, Virginia; San Joaquin, California; and Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Offices are located at nearly every installation where DLA operates, however.
