Three Troop Support retirees honored for 97 total years of service

By Maurice Matthews II DLA Troop Support Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support held a civilian retirement ceremony in honor of Raymond Hosey, Rhonda Marie Johnson, and Cesar Galvis Rodriguez on Jan. 26, 2023.

“I am honored to officiate my second civilian retirement ceremony here at Troop Support,” said DLA Troop Support Deputy Commander Kishayra J. Lambert, who presided over the ceremony. “Celebrating the long-standing careers of three of Troop Support’s finest.”

Hosey retired with 39 years of service, with his last position being at DLA Troop Support Europe and Africa as the customer facing division chief. “Not too bad for a South Philly with a public school education,” said Hosey. “I never thought that in 100 years, I would be here after my tumultuous start to life.”

Hosey concluded the speech with a quote told to him by his mother, “No one owes you anything,” referring to the lesson that one must work hard to achieve things in life.

Upon retirement, Hosey plans to write a book and do non-profit work.

Johnson concluded her career with 37 years of service, ending as a business process analyst in the Business Systems Modernization office.

She expressed her gratitude for all the support she received from her family coworkers and friends during her career.

“Because of you, I can stand here today,” said Johnson. She went on to thank her supportive husband Allen, sister Melanie Williams, and  sisters of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc.

“Thank you for being by my side while I achieve my career goals,” said Johnson.

Johnson plans to do a lot of travel, relaxing, and enjoying time with family.

Rodriguez, who is ending his career as a procurement specialist in the Subsistence supply chain, was the final retiree of the day.

He wrapped up his years of service by saying. “It felt like yesterday, but it was 21-years-ago when I came through the gate,” said Rodriguez. “I’ve learned many good things while at DLA and made good friends.”

During his retirement years, Cesar plans to volunteer with youth and continue to exercise.

Lambert reminded the retirees that Troop Support will always be their second family, and—through to their contributions—service members received crucial support through the work they have accomplished.

“I am truly grateful, and I am not alone in my appreciation,” she said. “On behalf of myself, Brig. Gen. Shirley and the entire workforce, I wish you all the best life has to offer during your retirement.”
