Employee Spotlight: Tiffani Perry

By Pamela Smith, Public Affairs Specialist DLA Aviation Public Affairs Office

Employee spotlight regularly features outstanding non-supervisory personnel from throughout the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation and other DLA employees on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. Organizational directors may submit names of employees they wish to feature in this column to DLA Aviation Public Affairs.

Name: Tiffani Perry

Organization: DLA Aviation’s Supplier Operations Original Equipment Manufacturer Directorate

Years of service: 1.5 years

What is your job title and what do you do specifically? It is my job as a pre-award contract specialist to prepare purchase requisitions for award so the material can get to the warfighter.

What is your fondest memory of working for DLA Aviation? So far, my fondest memory is realizing how far I have come in a short amount of time. I thank the people I’ve worked with over the last 18 months because the volume of information to learn was quite intimidating and a bit overwhelming. It is second nature to me now, thanks to my first supervisor and my experienced team members, who were there to answer questions and assist me.

What aspect(s) of your current job gives you the most personal satisfaction?  Why? The thing that I am enjoying the most right now is being able to share what I have learned with new and existing team members. No matter how long you have been working on preparing contracts for award, there is always something to learn, and I enjoy being able to share my discoveries in hopes the information will help the team.

What are your best practices for achieving goals or accomplishing tasks? My best practice is staying as organized and detailed as possible. I prepare a task list before each work week, but I remain flexible to accommodate any unexpected tasks that may occur. Physically writing out what needs to be done is essential for me to keep up with all of the moving parts in acquisition.

What are some of your passions outside of work? Outside of work, I enjoy taking on new home projects and learning different handywork skills no matter how difficult. I also love going to the movies, reading, playing sports, gardening, and of course, spending time with my family.

What’s the most thrilling/adventurous thing you have ever done? I’d like to think that I am quite adventurous. I have gone zip lining, indoor skydiving, and completed a high ropes and obstacle course 30 feet in the air. My goal for 2023 is to skydive.
