Norfolk’s Pacheco wins Employee of the Quarter award

Erwin Pacheco, distribution process worker at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Norfolk, Va., has been awarded the Employee of the Quarter award for third quarter, fiscal year 2015, for his outstanding work in accomplishing a wide variety of distribution-related duties.

“As a key member of a small three person support team at Little Creek, Va., Mr. Pacheco demonstrates unwavering mission focus, team spirit and extraordinary professionalism in support of the operational warfighting units resident at Joint Expeditionary Base, Little Creek,” said Thomas Allen, the Material Processing Center supervisor at Little Creek.

Pacheco’s most recent suggestion involved incorporating the use of additional barcodes within the processes for each of the supported ships.  This change effectively increased material induction rates, resulting in zero backlog, and without overtime for over three months.  Additionally, the change has reduced the incidents of misdirected freight, which has further improved support to the warfighter.

“Mr. Pacheco’s can do spirit is infectious and his ability to continually streamline our processes while increasing productivity and decreasing discrepancies has had a significant impact on the operation,” said Allen.

Pacheco has become the resident subject matter expert in distribution support and services provided by the DLA Distribution operations in Little Creek.  He offers assistance to all customers coming into the facility and explains processes that help ensure every evolution runs smoothly and error-free.

“Mr. Pacheco’s performance consistently promotes the excellent mission performance of the Little Creek operations by performing his duties in a highly professional manner and providing superior customer service,” said Allen.  “He has personal pride in doing each task correctly and ensures audit readiness is reflected in everything he does.  In fact, Mr. Pacheco’s expertise and customer service has each and every customer of the Little Creek operation feeling as though they are the only customer that matters.”
