NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania –
Defense Logistics Agency Senior Enlisted Leader Army Command Sgt. Maj. Charles Tobin along with USTRANSCOM Command Sgt. Maj. William Turner and Army Sgt. Maj. Rodger Mansker visited DLA Distribution on Jan. 20 to learn how the organization performs storage and distribution functions for the military services and other key customers.
Starting with an office call with Distribution commander Army Brig. Gen. Richard B. Dix, they met with key Distribution staff to receive an organizational overview highlighting DLA Distribution’s 24 distribution centers worldwide as well as its expeditionary team.
“I am excited to be here, especially with Transcom, the backbone of our organization,” said Tobin.
Following the briefing, the group toured DLA Distribution Susquehanna’s Eastern Distribution Center, the largest in DoD, to witness storage and distribution in motion. They then toured the hazmat facility and paid a visit to DLA’s only Airborne Riggers at Distribution Susquehanna’s Aerial Delivery and Textile operation.
“The visit to Susquehanna was an eye-opener for Sgt. Maj. Turner and Sgt. Maj. Mansker,” explained Tobin. “They both acknowledged the value and role of our Parachute Riggers and the importance of our relationship between TRANSCOM and the Services. They were both blown away with the attitude and positive command climate within our workforce. Well done and kudos to the Distribution leadership.”
