Bahrain distribution commander selected for promotion to Captain

Navy Supply Corps Cmdr. Todd A. Wanack, commander of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Bahrain, has been selected for the rank of captain.

A native of Humble, Texas, Wanack enlisted in the United States Navy in 1992 and was selected for Officer Candidate School in 1995.  Following Supply Officer Basic Qualification Course, he was assigned to USNS SAN JOSE as the material officer.  Following his tour onboard USNS SAN JOSE, he was selected as a Navy acquisition and contracting officer intern at the Naval Sea Systems Command.

Reporting onboard the USS Gunston Hall in 2000, Wanack served as the supply officer.   During his tenure, he deployed to South America and West Africa as part of a UNITAS and a West African Training Cruise.  Completing his tour, Wanack reported to Naval Supply Systems Command Office of Personnel, where he served as a detailer.  While there, he deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

In 2005, Wanack attended post graduate school at Rice University where he earned a Master of Business Administration.  Following graduation, Wanack served as a logistics planner on the staffs of both Commander Second Fleet and Commander United States Fleet Forces Command.

Prior to assuming his current position, he served as a division chief at Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime.  As a division chief, he was responsible for the contracting, supply planning, and technical data for over half a million assigned parts.

His decorations include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, four Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and various campaign ribbons and medals. He is a member of the Acquisition Corps and holds a Certified Public Accounting License.
