Profiles in Resiliency: Command Sgt. Maj. Charles Tobin

By Dianne Ryder

Army Command Sgt. Maj. Charles Tobin, the Defense Logistics Agency senior enlisted leader, had to deal with the deaths of several fellow soldiers after he returned home from deployment. Initially, he relied on alcohol to assuage the pain of the hardships he faced, but he soon learned what it meant to be truly resilient.

View the video in which Tobin shares how he dealt with this challenge.

This is the latest in the “Profiles in Resiliency” video series, which seeks to inspire the DLA workforce with the testimony of colleagues who overcame serious personal difficulties.

Resiliency is one of DLA's five core values: Integrity, Resiliency and Diversity, Innovation, Accountability and Excellence. Resiliency is the foundation for agency leaders’ actions in support of their customers and employees. It provides employees flexibility to adapt to changing environments while achieving outstanding results.
