EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: Terry Lutz

By DLA Aviation Public Affairs

Name: Terry Lutz

Organization: Priority Cell, DLA Aviation at Ogden

Years of Service: 10

What is your job title, and what do you do, specifically? Customer Support Specialist. I review and submit potential material purchase requests for technical review and submission of approved packages to the Emergency Contracting Support Branch, Supplier Support Division, DLA Aviation Supplier Operations Commodities Directorate in Richmond.

What is your fondest memory of working for DLA Aviation? Our team-building event at the Roy Air Force Museum. We split up into teams with a “scavenger hunt list.” In order to answer the questions we needed to read all of the plaques. I learned a lot that day and enjoyed spending time with my co-workers outside of work.

If you could speak directly to the warfighters you support, what would you tell them? Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your service! I appreciate all your hard work and sacrifices that you and your family make daily for our freedom.

What are some of your passions outside of work?  I love my family, friends, birds and traveling. From the Redwood Forest in California, to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and everywhere in-between and outside of America.  I enjoy planning trips, using "Roadside America - a guide to Uniquely Odd Tourist Attractions." One example was in Shoshone, Idaho, where there is a guide listing of "Another Ice Cave & Things."  In the middle of nowhere, there is an ice cave and attached to it is a taxidermy museum. The museum has hundreds of weird animals and even a two-headed rabbit. It is a third generation museum, we were told. It was very interesting and odd. Loved it. It is well worth the drive if you are ever near there.

Have you had a mentor that helped you grow in your career?  If so who, and how did they help? Theresa McKinzie, she is by far the most knowledgeable supply person ever!  She is always willing to help, has the right answers and kind words.  She is my inspiration; I hope to reach her level of knowledge someday.

What is your biggest pet peeve? Walmart shoppers. They do not look before they walk in and out of the store!

Who is the most influential person in your life...past or present? Maggie Wilson, my mother. She is the kindest, most loving person any one could be blessed to have. She has taught me to give life all you have and then give more; to enjoy the little things every day; to laugh, love and try to find something good in everyone and everything.

What five things could you absolutely not live without? My family, friends, pet birds, lip-gloss, and make-up.

What type of music do you most enjoy? Top 40 and country.
