DORRA employees graduate from 14-week Army Logistics University course

By Defense Logistics Agency Office of Operations Research and Resource Analysis

Three Defense Logistics Agency Office of Operations Research and Resource Analysis employees recently graduated from a prestigious Army training course — an achievement that will help them provide better analytical services and high-quality products to DORRA customers.

Analysts Alex Diaz, William “Jack” Barrow and Daniel Freas, successfully completed the Army Logistics University’s Operations Research and Resource Analysis Military Applications course at Fort Lee, Virginia, May 5. Of particular note, Daniel Freas earned the recognition as the Distinguished Honor Graduate for having the highest overall marks in the course.

Because DORRA’s work is heavy on analytics, training in statistics, modeling and simulation, data forensics, continuous process improvement and workforce requirements are crucial for analysts.

The 14-week course is particularly challenging and includes in-depth classroom instruction, practical exercises and group problem-solving.

Some of the goals of the course include providing a better understanding of data accuracy in the decision-making process as well as practicing methodologies and new approaches to solve complex problems that DORRA works on every day.

Barrow, who already has two master’s, including one in applied statistics, said, “I learned new techniques and applications that I can apply to my analytic work at DORRA.”

Diaz, Barrow and Freas are part of a cadre of highly trained analysts who review the most challenging analytical requirements to provide warfighters and other users the best possible information and insight for decision making.
