Cmdr. Thomas R. Marszalek retires from DLA Maritime Pearl Harbor

Cmdr. Thomas R. Marszalek, Director, DLA Maritime Pearl Harbor, retired onboard the Battleship USS Missouri on Aug. 23, 2017, after serving 28 years of faithful and honorable service in the U.S. Navy Capt. Timothy L. Daniels, Commander, DLA Pacific, officiated the retirement ceremony attended by honored guests, friends, family and shipmates.

Daniels presented Marszalek with a flag that was flown over the USS Arizona memorial. 

Marszalek is a native of Oak Lawn, Ill. He graduated from St. Norbert College, DePere, Wis. in 1987 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He worked as an accountant for two years before being accepted to Officer Candidate School in June of 1989. He was commissioned in October of 1989 and attended Navy Supply Corps School.

Over the course of 28 years in service, Marszalek earned the Surface Supply and Submarine Supply Warfare pins, qualified as a Joint Specialty Officer, and became a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. He’s been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (3 awards) and various campaign and service medals. 

Marszalek and his wife, Cely, were married in June of 1994 and the couple has a son, Christopher, who’s now a senior at the University of Portland in Oregon.
