“They hosted the first annual bowling tournament in August and the fifth annual golf tournament in September. Both events were successful, due to the committee’s hard work and dedication,” said DLA Distribution San Joaquin commander, Marine Col. Andre Harrell.

In addition to planning the events and working all the logistics, the committee creates advertising flyers, signs-up participants and uses their personal leave to host the actual events.

“To say they thought of everything is an understatement; they thought of everything and more,” said Harrell.  “It was evident from the beginning, they planned top-notch events to allow all participants the time to come together and de-stress from their busy work schedules and socialize with their fellow coworkers in a fun and relaxing setting.”

According to Harrell, “the Civilian Welfare Fund Committee is an essential part of DLA Distribution San Joaquin, servant leadership team, as they strive to serve the men and women employed across the entire installation.  Whether they’re hosting a fundraiser, planning future appreciation events, or attending meetings, they work tirelessly and focus enormous effort on taking care of our most valued resource; the employees of the distribution center.  The CWF Committee is vital to the morale and welfare of our workforce and they truly merit this prestigious recognition.”
