USASAC Commanding General and Command Sergeant Major visits DLA Distribution

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

U.S. Army Security Assistance Command’s commanding general, Maj. Gen. Stephen Farmen, and Command Sgt. Major Gene Canada, visited DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, on Dec. 15.  Their day began with a command brief presented by Col. Brad Eungard, DDSP Commander, followed by a tour of facilities on the New Cumberland Depot.

While not his first visit to New Cumberland, Pa., it was the first time Maj. Gen. Farmen toured the Eastern Distribution Center, the largest warehouse in the Department of Defense.  He visited the receiving, processing, storage, retrieval and out-loading operations, where he saw the supply chain in action.  The tour included the organization’s key locations, including the Consolidation and Containerization Point, the high-rise storage and retrieval system, and the air line of communication pallet build area.

The next stop on the tour was to Building 89, which houses medical supplies, and processes Foreign Military Sales equipment for shipment.  During his visit there, Maj. Gen. Farmen presented awards to select DDSP’s Unit Materiel Fielding Point personnel for their dedicated support to the USASAC mission.

The tour ended with a short walk through building 2012 (Transportation).

Summarizing his visit, Maj. Gen. Farmen said he really appreciated the presentation, which he said was a great help to him.  “I don’t take it for granted the great support we get from you and the team of people that are real passionate coming in here and trying to make sure we deliver on time on target.”

“We all have important missions, but we’re only as good as all the other team of teams who support us,” said Maj. Gen. Farmen.
