DLA Distribution Teammates,
As you gather around the Thanksgiving table with family and friends this year, I’d like you to pause to think about those who will not be with their family members; those who are serving forward deployed around the world.
On October 3, 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of Thanksgiving. Though it was a time of hardship, Thanksgiving was a day for Americans to express gratitude for the many blessings they enjoyed, including the sacrifices of those serving in uniform and their families. Each year since, we have come together during this season to reflect and to give thanks.
As this special holiday draws near, Ms. Gonzales and I would like to extend our gratitude to the entire DLA Distribution Team for your work to keep our Warfighters well supplied! Your strength, selflessness, and patriotism are deeply respected, and we are very thankful for your commitment and loyalty to the DLA Distribution family. I am proud to be part of this great team that works tirelessly every day to support the many men and women, both military and civilian, deployed worldwide…there are none better!
Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving, remember to incorporate safety into everything you do, and please keep our service members and DoD Civilians deployed in harm's way in your thoughts and prayers. We have a great deal to be thankful for.
