Jones makes inaugural visit to DLA Distribution Red River

On Nov. 15-16, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution commander Navy Rear Adm. Kevin M. Jones made his inaugural visit to DLA Distribution Red River, Texas, to meet with key staff members, employees, other local DLA entities and Red River Army Depot commander Army Col. Stephen York.

Upon arrival, Jones received the Red River command brief, presented by DLA Distribution Red River’s commander, Army Lt. Col. Jeffery Chamberlain. In addition to Jones and Chamberlain, attending the brief was DLA Distribution Red River deputy commander, Fred Hildrich, representatives from the Union, DLA Land and Maritime, DLA Disposition Services and DLA Document Services, who are all co-located with Distribution on the Red River Army Depot installation.

Following the briefing, Jones was given a tour of Distribution’s footprint on the installation.

Coming back to Distribution Red River’s Headquarter building, Jones presented length of service awards to a number of Red River employees. Boyd J. Bomberger, Jr., Steven W. Brookman, Rhonda Cartwright, Catherine Daniel and Anita Dodez received awards for 30 years of service. Kathy Braley, Tammy Gardner, Rick D. McConaughey and Carol J. Wright received awards for 35 years of service. Diana Culberson, Margie Golston and Kathy Nottingham received awards for 40 years of service, and Emmett Thurman, Jr., received an award for 45 years of service. All together, these individuals provided the federal government with a combined total of 455 years of service.

Rounding out his visit, Jones met York and his deputy commander, Patton Tidwell where they provided him with a command brief on Red River Army Depot.
