San Diego’s military liaison officer promoted to Lieutenant Commander

DLA Distribution Public Affairs

On Nov. 2, DLA Distribution San Diego, California’s, commander Navy Capt. Jerome R. White administered the oath that promoted Navy Lt. Araceli Galvan, San Diego’s military liaison officer to Lt. Cmdr. during a  ceremony held at the Naval Base San Diego Chapel.

Showing support for Galvan along with White, were DLA Distribution San Diego deputy commander Lazaro E. Street, a host of family, including her son Dario, friends and shipmates from her previous commands.

Galvan was selected by a board of Navy Senior Officers for promotion to the grade and rank of lieutenant commander.  She has spent the better part of 20 years sharpening her skills.

“As a leader, there’s no greater feeling than the feeling you have when you witness a member of your team grow professionally and get promoted to positions of greater responsibility,” explained White. “Lt. Cmdr. Galvan’s promotion demonstrates how the Navy values DLA assignments and the contributions of assigned personnel who support military and Navy readiness as a member of a joint organization.”

As the ceremony came to a close, Galvan thanked everyone for their participation and expressed her sincere appreciation. “This is a great day! I am honored and humbled to be standing here today.”
