DLA Aviation-Jacksonville celebrates National Aviation Day

By Leon Moore DLA Aviation Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation–Jacksonville, Florida, military and civilian personnel celebrated National Aviation Day Aug. 19. President Franklin Roosevelt proclaimed Aug. 19 as National Aviation Day in 1939 as a way of celebrating the history and development of aviation. The date coincides with the birthday of Dayton, Ohio, native Orville Wright, who – along with his brother Wilbur – is credited with inventing the world's first successful airplane.
