Land and Maritime Deputy Commander addresses leadership development skills

By Michael Jones DLA Land and Maritime Public Affairs

More than 50 leadership minded Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime associates gathered in the Building 20 Buckeye/Cardinal rooms March 11 to hear Land and Maritime Deputy Commander Kenneth Watson share some of his insights and key principles in becoming a successful leader.

The event was sponsored by Land and Maritime’s Leader Development Council and is a continuation of their efforts to promote leadership development among aspiring associates.

Throughout his presentation, Watson shared some personal experiences and lessons learned earlier in his civil service career. He addressed the importance of knowledge building and emphasized the significance of change management. Watson said the world has changed and will continue to change, there’s no going back, but effective leaders embrace the future.

Kim Donhauser, management analyst for Land and Maritime’s Procurement Process Support Directorate, attended the breakfast and said it gave her some new options to ponder as she progresses in her career. “Mr. Watson’s presentation reinforced for me that hard work and sacrifice are key to having a varied and successful career,” she said.
