Battle Creek, Mich. –
April is Sexual Assault awareness month, although Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services Sexual Assault Response Coordinator Robin Rogers strives to raise awareness year-round.
DLA Disposition Services Mid-America’s Leadership Summit invited Rogers to be one of the speakers and provide training at their March event held at the Red River Army Depot site in Texas.
"I travel to build relationships with employees and leaders and promote awareness,” Rogers said. “Sexual Assault can be a difficult subject to discuss, and I try to help people be more comfortable by having conversations that dispel myths, help understand victims, and just make the subject more relatable.”
“My job as a SARC is to be an advocate for victims of sexual assault, and to provide coordination of resources and services from outside agencies and law enforcement,” Rogers said. “I also serve as a subject matter expert to our leadership on trends and issues, and provide education on prevention.”
As April approaches, the SAPR program is exploring opportunities to continue the annual awareness program considering the recent shift to the primary virtual work environment.
“We are working on a virtual SAPR challenge that includes ways for people to participate and show their support,” Rogers said. “Information for events and activities will be distributed through various channels once the program is ready.”
