NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
In recognition of efforts done while serving with Defense Logistics Agency Distribution from June 2019, to June 2020, Air Force Col. Patrick R Launey has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.
Launey's keen insight, personal initiative and brilliant innovative mindset helped power DLA Distribution's command of global reach, sustaining warfighter posture, readiness and lethality through a distribution network of 24 distribution centers and 34 other locations spanning 20 states and eight nations across geographic combatant commands.
Launey enabled operational execution of a workforce of approximately 7,400 civilian employees, 321 active and reserve military personnel and 1,600 contractors that together managed 2.5 million stock items worth $105 billion, while ensuring premiere customer service to 249,000 customers across 135 countries.
Launey oversaw the DLA Distribution scheduled truck program, maintaining 136 truck lanes, with 249 separate customer organizations, all at 98 different installations across the Defense Department network. Through these efforts DLA Distribution was able to save the American taxpayer $33.4 million through 2019 and $14.3 million in just the first six months of 2020.
During the initial and ongoing COVID-19 fight, Launey would oversee the efforts to ensure that personal protective equipment as well as meals were delivered across 24 distribution centers, all during a time of uncertainty and ever changing conditions across the entire logistics landscape.
DLA Distribution thanks Launey for his efforts and accomplishments. Launey’s performance has raised the bar for all at DLA Distribution.
