NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, has earned the DLA Distribution Team Performance of the Year Award for their efforts in accountability, cost savings and team improvements.
Seizing the chance to make opportunities out of challenges, DDPH employees came together to create a comprehensive training plan that would not only properly instruct new employees, but also provide current employees insights into the responsibilities of other roles within the team.
This training became invaluable as the DDPH team had to shift responsibilities all while conducting a thorough inventory of all stock items. Over the course of that inventory count, more than $125,000 in savings was found. Through the process of discovering expense savings, the team learned invaluable lessons about inventory integrity and validity.
A constant internal feed back loop of input and listening provided the DDPH team with opportunities to learn, evolve processes, monitor results and then repeat the learning loop. The willingness of DDPH employees to participate in these programs greatly enhanced their readiness and response rate through flexibility.
The DDPH team are an exceptional multi-faceted assembly of logisticians and subject matter experts with an infectious sense of dedication and desire to get the job done right. Despite several challenges, the team produced amazing results, maintained audit sustainment on wholesale inventory, and advanced audit readiness for the retail inventory. DDPH epitomizes the team concept and works as one cohesive unit that enabled them to achieve impressive accomplishments.
