DLA Distribution Anniston Vehicles and Artillery division is awarded the DLA Distribution Large Team of the Year award

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

The Vehicles and Artillery division of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Anniston, Alabama, has been awarded the Large Team of the Year award for their efforts in maintaining warfighter first readiness across multiple customers and variations in need.

The V&A team at DDAA consists of 52 employees that handle large items such as the M1 Abrams tank, M88 recovery vehicle, and other component pieces like engines and transmissions. The team conducted over 1600 different picks of armored track vehicles and artillery cannons. Each pick requiring extensive work for packaging, preservation and marking in anticipation of shipment to the customer’s end destination.

In addition to this work the V&A team also conducted over 1700 different picks for their geographically located local customers. These movements required extra attention to comply with the appropriate safety regulations.

Understanding the need for safety while working with the only 80-ton crane in any DLA depot, the team operated this heavy equipment through 95% of the 2019 work year without incident. The attention to safety and detail of the V&A team directly contributed to the timely support of the warfighter and ongoing operations.

Through constantly evolving needs from customers as our Warfighters and combatant commands adapt to meet the needs of mission requirements, DDAA and the V&A team have remained dedicated and focused on their role. Their tireless devotion to supporting the warfighter through timely, accurate and safe practices is a great reflection upon themselves and DLA Distribution.
