DLA Director visits Mechanicsburg print facility and presents coin

By J6 Communications

DLA print facility employees at Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg, Pa. were visited by the DLA Director, Navy Vice Adm. Michelle Skubic, on May 13. Skubic came to Mechanicsburg to present director’s coins to a few DLA employees from Aviation, Disposition, and Strategic Data Services.

Skubic presented Mr. Minsoo Yoon, lead operator at the print facility, with a coin for his exemplary work over the last ten years – including his expertise in large press printing, graphic design and customer service.

While at the print facility, Strategic Data Services employees gave Skubic a tour and explained the process of how they receive orders, production, and the final product. They showed her various items they can produce including some large format samples and CD’s. The facility primarily supports the Navy and the Army War College in Carlisle.

The employees then presented Skubic with one of their products, a laminated poster of the USS George H.W. Bush - after hearing that she had been stationed there.

“She told us how she actually created the logo/insignia for the USS Bush and how she and her father came up with the ‘freedom at work’ part of the insignia. It was a very nice story,” said Cesily Estrada, production operations supervisor at Mechanicsburg.

This was Skubic’s first visit to the Mechanicsburg print facility. She’s previously visited the facilities at Norfolk and MacDill Air Force base.
