Colorado Springs employee recognized

By Jake Joy DLA Disposition Services Public Affairs

Material Identifier and Examiner Justin Herburger is Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services Employee of the Quarter of the 2nd quarter of fiscal 2021.

Herburger has been a valued contributor to the property management branch of the Colorado Springs field activity during all three years he’s been with the agency. Supervisor Edward Martin said Herburger’s performance through pandemic challenges had remained consistently excellent.

“While other employees were taking weather and safety leave, Justin volunteered to work a number of additional shifts, and during each and every one, his positive attitude and outstanding customer service were recognized by all of the staff at Colorado Springs and mentioned by customers conducting disposal activities at our site,” Martin said.

During each shift, Herburger helped the site exceed its anticipated receipts per employee rate, while contributing directly to an “agency-leading 40% on-the-shelf rate.”

“Justin's attitude and spirit are instrumental in establishing and maintaining an award-winning environment and have made his contributions so worthy of the recognition associated with the Employee of the Quarter Award,” Martin said.

Herburger cited the mentorship of his site coworkers for his success with the agency.

“I love the site I work at, mainly because of the team I work with. They’re a great group and I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of coworkers and leadership team,” Herburger said. “It’s an honor and I have no one but my team and leadership to thank for it.”

Martin called him a “true team player” whose commitment to coworkers and customers both has inspired the entire staff and consistently enriched the work environment.

“I found out I was nominated when I came into work and everyone that morning was congratulating me. I didn’t know what anyone was talking about until I opened my email and saw the listing of winners,” Herburger said. “I was shocked and also very humbled by the fact that I had not only been nominated but selected.”
