DLA Distribution Commanding General delivers Fourth of July remarks

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

July 4th marks the 245th anniversary of the birth of our nation. What started as an experiment in democracy and the birth of an independent nation — separate from colonial rule — has become a strong and amazing example of freedom and liberty to the world.

This time last year saw us isolated in our homes and away from family. Parades, picnics and fireworks were placed on hold as we all did our part to keep our communities and our workplaces safe. Despite every challenge of the past year, you stepped forward, and with an unwavering sense of duty, to continue to support the Warfighter.

This July 4th, I encourage all of you to continue to stay safe as you’re now able to venture out to enjoy in-person celebrations. Your own personal efforts have seen us this far with much success, and I’m counting on you to keep that going as we continue through the end of this pandemic.

As we celebrate with a break this weekend, Mr. Perry Knight, Deputy Commander, and I want to thank each of you for your hard work and dedication over the past sixteen months, as we’ve continued to operate through the COVID-19 pandemic. We can’t thank you enough for your commitment to your teammates’ safety as you maintained warfighter readiness for our great nation. We are both proud and inspired by your efforts.

Take this time off to rest, recharge, and reflect with pride and honor on how this nation of freedom and liberty for all started, and what it can become through the dedicated efforts of people like you. We wish you a memorable and safe celebration!
