NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution hosted a United Kingdom Ministry of Defence delegation visit to the headquarters and Eastern Distribution Center tour March 8.
United Kingdom British Army Maj. Gen. Simon Hutchings, director of Joint Support at the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence Strategic Command, along with six members of the delegation, were given a command brief by DLA Distribution leadership upon their arrival. Also included in their visit was a tour of DLA Distribution Susquehanna’s Eastern Distribution Center, the largest warehouse in the Defense Department that supports joint warfighters and federal partners worldwide.
The last time a UK delegation visited was in 2019. This is their first return visit since COVID-19 pandemic protocols have been eased.
During the command brief portion, discussions centered on DLA Distribution’s White House COVID-19 test kit support, COVID-19 vaccine mission, warehouse modernization and contested logistics.
Hutchings expressed his appreciation of DLA Distribution’s logistics collaboration with the military services as well as DLA Distribution’s ability to provide unique capabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
While at the EDC, the delegation was given an overview of the DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania warehouse mission and layout of the distribution center. A brief discussion on recent modernization efforts ongoing at the EDC was also provided.
