PUGET SOUND, Washington –
Anne M. Coleman, materials examiner/identifier supervisor at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Puget Sound, Wash., has been awarded Global Distribution Excellence: Material Management Civilian Supervisor of the Year.
According to DLA Distribution Puget Sound’s commander, Cmdr. Mark Peace, Coleman continuously goes above and beyond to provide exceptional customer support and strives to find innovative ways to improve daily distribution processes. “Ann is ‘top-notch’ in all she does; she sets the standard and leads by example. Her knowledge of warehousing operations is second to none, making her the go to person for training and guidance as well as resolving system and procedural problems,” said Peace.
Peace added that Coleman’s leadership was paramount in the processing of more than 12,100 receipt inductions valued in excess of $208 million, ensuring material was ready for issue and optimizing customer support.
Her high standards of compliance drove the processing and completion of nearly 12,700 Preservation, Packaging, Packing and Marking work orders, ensuring the proper protection of over $24.3 million in assets. These actions directly guaranteed the proper storage and shipment of critical assets enhancing overall mission support to the warfighter.
Her attention to detail also ensured the practice of Kind Count Condition from receipt through stow permeated the warehouse. These actions contributed to an overall inventory accuracy rate of 99.8 percent and a denial rate of .10 percent for the year, reducing discrepencies and enhancing customer satisfaction. “Her perseverance and diligence in Material Processing Center operations enabled the flawless induction and transshipment of approximately 24,000 lines of material to global customers,” said Peace.
Always willing to go above and beyond for a customer, Coleman coordinated with leadership from the Military Sealift Command ship USS Emory Land to stage and ship material. The ship was ported at Vigor Marine Shipyard in Portland, Ore., for repairs and unable to accept material. She coordinated the transshipment of 40 pallets of residual material from Pearl Harbor to Puget Sound and subsequent transshipment of 271 pallets of material including hazardous to Portland over a 3-month period.
Always looking to further her knowledge and leadership capabilities, Coleman recently received her Bachelors in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Supply Chain Systems.
