NORFOLK, Virginia –
Kareneshia Stubblefield, distribution process worker at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Norfolk, Va., has been awarded the Global Distribution Excellence: Transportation Management Civilian of the Year for her work in the distribution center’s Intermodal Hub.
According to the organization’s commander, Navy Capt. Harry Thetford, Stubblefield is recognized as an Intermodal Hub expert in the Consolidation and Containerization Point receiving module of Distribution Standard System, DLA Distribution’s main warehousing system.
He added that Stubblefield doesn’t hesitate to share her talents. New personnel are given a two-hour familiarization course on the system and then paired with Ms. Stubblefield for hands-on CCP receiving experience. “Not only does she provide on-the-job training on small parcel and bulk freight receiving, but she ensures her protégées are schooled in the processes in order to be fully audit-ready. Her efforts have ensured the workforce is fully capable in these areas,” said Thetford.
She is also eager to expand her knowledge base and capabilities. Intermodal Hub has a cross-training program with nine qualifications to fully qualify in all operations of IMH’s Container Operations division. Stubblefield completed eight of the nine qualifications, including Foreign Military Sales processing, container outloading, household goods processing, and small parcel shipping.
“Ms. Stubblefield is the anchor of the Intermodal Hub’s general cargo receiving operations. Last year alone, she received more than 10,300 pieces of general cargo. On her top performance day, she processed an eye-popping 399 pieces in one eight-hour shift. She truly sets the example for peers to follow,” said Thetford.
